What I Want to Learn More

In this semester, we learned many things such as Windows, Power Point, Hardware, and so on in the class. However, I know they are not enough to understand about computers, and there are some things that I want to know about computers. First, I want to try to edit photos or videos. I like to take pictures, but I know only keeping them in a folder in a computer. I want to do more developed thing by using these photos. As same as photos, I want to use videos that I film and make something good (I’m not sure what it is…). Next, I want to know how to copy DVD into another DVD. There are many DVDs I want, but I cannot buy all of them because of lack of money, so I want to copy them. It is much cheaper than buying all!! Maybe, I will be poor at computer forever, but I will be able to do my best to understand. I will try to understand as hard as possible.

What Is Viral Video?

Have you ever heard the term “viral video”? I had never. Viral Video is a video clip that is broadcasted through the Internet. For example, You Tube, which is a very popular site now, is one of the viral videos, and in the site, people can see many kinds of video clips freely. Now, cell phones with video camera become common in many areas, so people can film easily and cheaply. These videos, most of which are made by armatures, are not for business. Also, these are short form such as few minutes’ video clips rather than long form like TV programs or movies. As other examples of viral video, Broadcaster, Ziddio.com, Google Video, and the like are existed on the Internet.

If I could buy any computer gifts for my friends or family, I would present a camera that can be in a computer to my parents. I don’t know what the name is, but I remember that we talked with Mr. Poza’s father through internet by using the camera in class. The video and voice were enough to talk. Since using the camera through internet doesn’t need any extra money, we can talk without worrying about cost. Maybe, I will miss my family after going to the U.S, but talking thorough telephone is very expensive because of different countries. Therefore, I would like to buy the camera to my family, especially my parents. Then I sometimes want to talk with my family.

Network Neutrality

I have never heard “ network neutrality”, and I cannot understand the term well even though I search about it by using Internet. Network neutrality is “the principle that Internet users should be in control of what content they view and what applications they use on the Internet. The Internet has operated according to this neutrality principle since its earliest days”(http://www.google.com/help/netneutrality.html). Also, it says, “Net neutrality is a major issue as the U.S. considers new telecommunications laws. The U.S. House of Representatives passed its telecommunications bill, H.R. 5252, in May, without adequate net neutrality protections”. I am not sure, but it seems that the term has been debated in America for a long time, and recently, Japan has also started debating about it since 2006 according Internet. Now, there are both opinions that “net work neutrality” is good or bad.

Windows Vista!!

On January 30, 2007, Microsoft Windows Vista that was an operating system for a personal computer was released by Microsoft Corporation, and Vista means view in Italy. There are eight different editions such as for family or business, but five editions are released in Japan. I don’t know about all kinds of computers well, so I also don’t understand about Windows Vista well. However, I am interested in the work of speech recognition that can make us input information and operate computer without typing. I think it is easy to use while people do something, or it is very good for people who cannot type. In addition, this soft has Windows Aero that can make the computer has a 3D image on the screen. I wanted Windows Vista because I love new things, but recently, I am also interested in Mac. I have to decide which is better for me until spring.

what is social engineering?

Social engineering is a technique that people get important information like passwords about a significant computer by using an illegal way, and another name is social hacking or social cracking. Stealing a look at someone who is using a computer, looking for and getting information from refuses of an office, or trespassing a building are all techniques of social engineering. In general, people who do social engineering try to hit a psychological weakness of targets. They act like another person and make targets believe them. If an administrative ability and a confirmation are not good enough, hackers will be able to target the company easily. In order to guard information against social engineering, people should educate person who manage and use information more.

Apple Mark

I do not know well about the Mac. One of the reasons is that I have never used it. What I know about it is that the Mac has an apple mark, and Mr. Poza loves it rather than Windows. My image is that the Mac is looks prettier than Windows. However, I learned about the Mac a little in class, so now I know about it a little more than before. I learned the Mac is easier to use, so it might be good for me because I am not good at using a computer. Unfortunately, however, I cannot ask when I am in trouble how to use because there are no people who use the Mac around me. This spring I will buy a computer to take it to the U.S, so I have to think about the Mac and Windows more, and I want to make right decision.

Conputer for Me

What I can do by using computers is just to see Internet and type in Microsoft Word. As you can see, I am a beginner about computers, but I am not in trouble about my ability of computers now because I do not use them very often. However, I know I would enjoy the Internet world if I could use computers more. Also, today, computers are used all over the world, and people are required the high skill of using the convenient machines to get a job. Therefore, I have to know how to use them as much as possible, so I want to learn useful information about computers for beginners; especially, the way of using Word and Internet more effectively or what we should watch out when using computers.
